Green Day's story begins in Berkeley, California, in 1983, when two young friends called Billie Joe Armstrong (Billie Joe) and Michael Pritchard (Mike Dirnt), formed his first band called Sweet Children. At that time only had 14 years old.
In 1989 Billy Joe and Mike Dirnt joined the drummer Al Sobrante and changed its name "Sweet Children" by Green Day. That same year, Green Day released their first album with an independent company. The tittle's work was "1,000 Hours", that was accepted into the atmosphere punk. Shortly after Sobrante was replaced by another drummer, John Kiftmeyer. With John, Green Day released their first album in 1990, it was called "1039/Smooth". A new change in the drums leaves to Tre Cool in command of the instrument.
The "Basket Case" video Green day became the "Video of the year 94", by MTV.
